An 1890s view of what is now 16th Street, looking north from about 26th Avenue. The closest building on the left was the Stewartville town hall, which was moved to Highland in 1906. Visible are the tracks that carried the electric trolley out to Prospect Park beginning in 1889. The image is from a 1900 publication, “Images of Moline,” issued by the Moline Mail.

This is an 1890s photo of the west side of today’s 16th Street looking north from 25th Avenue. In the foreground is the Stewartville Town Hall, which also housed a hardware and farm implement dealer, probably Trevors. The fourth building was a dry goods store in the 1890s and is today’s Teske Seed and Feed Store. Compare this to the image below, taken in 2000.

This is the same view as the previous photo, taken in the year 2000. The Daebelliehn Building in the foreground replaced the Stewartville Town Hall and at least one adjacent building in 1907. The next building was built in the early 1890s, has housed Teske Seed and Feed Company since the 1930s, and is one of the oldest remaining commercial buildings in Stewartville. The Hardees sign in the distance is at the site of the former Christisons store.
