Sky Ridge Observatory

Memorial Bridge, 1934 Carl Gamble built this observatory on Coaltown Road and started the Popular Astronomy Club in 1936. Gamble willed the 6-inch telescope to Augustana College, which moved it in 1969 to their Rock Island campus to become part of the John Deere Planetarium.
