A postcard view of the Tri-City Sanitarium in 1910.

Mary Stewart, the wife of Stewartville founder Dr. Jacob Stewart, purchased the C. F. Hemenway home near the top of 15th Street Hill and donated it for use as the Tri-City Sanitarium. For the next twenty years until her death, she lived across the street. In this 1910 postcard view, a dormitory addition to the Sanitarium is visible at the rear of the mansion. Today the mansion part has been replaced by a brick apartment building, but the addition remains as part of that complex.
