Like any medium-sized American city, Moline has a number of important institutions; organizations devoted to the promotion of a particular cause or program, most especially of a public, educational, or charitable character. Through their community service, these institutions and the buildings in which the activities were performed became important symbols within the community.
Although some of the buildings no longer stand, the work that was carried out within their walls continues to affect the lives of Moliners.
