Deere & MansurDeere & Mansur Company

Established in 1877 for the production of corn planters, the Deere & Mansur Company was a partnership agreement between Deere & Company president Charles Deere, and long-time partner and associate Alvah Mansur. Soon producing the revolutionary Edge Drop Planter, the factory quickly became the largest planter factory in the world. In 1910, the company was part of the merger and consolidation of John Deere facilities. By that time, the company had expanded into stalk cutters, drills, seeders, and the Deere hay rake. In 1953, the Deere & Mansur line included cotton and corn planters and single-action and double-action disk harrows, including the justly famous Model "S", pioneer single-action tractor disk harrow.

Today, the site is the John Deere Cylinder Division.
