Three generations of Christisons operated this general store at Stewartville’s main intersection from 1887 to 1972. Shown at the right in this 1890s photo is William A. Christison, whose wife Lizabeth (not pictured) was the central figure in running the store in the 19th century and whose name is attached to the canopy (L. S. Christison & Co.). At the left is William H. (“Babe”) who ran the business from 1899 until his death in 1937. In the middle are daughters of the elder Christisons, Gertrude and Isabella.
