Blackhawk Road

This road, along the base of the Rock River bluff, connects Moline to the southern edge of Rock Island and to Milan. Its name derives from the fact that it goes through the Black Hawk State Historical Site (formerly Black Hawk State Park), which is located on the bluff overlooking the river and commemorates the Native American village, Saukenuk. Black Hawk was a leader of the Sac nation who resisted the American takeover of his lands in the Black Hawk Wars that ended in 1832.
