2140 2nd Street Residential Historic Restoration
Working by herself over a period of several years, the owner began by removing ugly false brick siding on this two story house. She enhanced the detailing on the windows, and recovered the house with shingle siding with fish scale accents in the dormers. Her efforts gave this 1899 farmhouse, built by Charles W. Wehrend, an impressive face lift.

Commercial Historic Restoration
This two-part building was built in 1884 and 1889, and was scheduled for demolition in 1990. But after extensive restoration, it is now the showcase building on the avenue. The building underwent a power wash before replacement brick work was done and all new period windows were installed. Historic colors were applied to the cast iron work at street level and to the decorative cornice at the roof line, highlighting details that had not been seen in many years.

Public Building Restoration-Interior and Exterior
Restoration of this 1903 building began with teh removal of 1950s windows and replacing them with replicas of the original windows. This included opening up once again the beautiful arched windows on the second floor. Interior work included installation of period lighting and reopening the main floor entrance. A tin ceiling was uncovered, cleaned and painted and now complements the new Rehr Art Gallery on the second floor.
